Reversing the Effects of an Aging Population in New Brunswick

The 2019 Labour Market Information (LMI) Forum brought together over 120 delegates on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Delta Fredericton. The purpose of this year’s forum was to bring together academics, researchers and policy makers to gain an improved understanding of ongoing efforts to address the challenges of an aging population in New Brunswick. The event also marked the launch of New Brunswick’s first LMI Network!

The Forum Featured:

  • A presentation by Dr. Herb Emery and John Calhoun on the challenges associated with an aging population in New Brunswick.
  • A keynote presentation by Dr. Harvey Weingarten, President and CEO, Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario on the topic of ‘Post-Secondary Education and the Labour Market.’
  • A presentation by Dr. Phil Leonard with the New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data and Training on current immigration research.
  • Two panel sessions, comprised of subject matter experts, with presentations and discussions on the following topics:
    • Aligning Education and Training and with the Labour Market
    • Using Immigration to Fill Labour Market Needs
